We are very excited to announce that Santa’s reindeer will be visiting us again this year, to have a nice relaxing break before they’re busy delivering presents!

LEARN ABOUT THE REINDEER

At Olivers, we are incredibly passionate about educating younger generations about a number of topics, including plants & wildlife.

We love showing children that reindeer aren’t just mythical creatures (like unicorns!) and seeing their faces light up when they see them for the first time

The team that look after the reindeer are incredibly knowledgeable & caring towards them, and will be on hand to teach you about all things reindeer!

¬†Below you will find more information about the reindeer and we hope you’ll come and visit them in person!

If you have any further questions, please do ask and we’ll be happy to help

To help you feel at ease, below we have answered a few of the questions we received last year:

WHY HAVE THEIR ANTLERS BEEN CUT OFF?

Their antlers have not been cut off, but rather they naturally shed them and grow them back each year

WHY ARE THEY BLEEDING FROM THEIR ANTLERS?

Reindeer naturally shed the velvet (the fur) on their antlers – this velvet carries blood to the antlers, which means they can bleed whilst it is being shed, but this is completely normal!

WHY ARE THE REINDEER SKINNY?

Reindeer are naturally skinny animals – even the healthiest reindeer can have ribs that are visible

HOW DO WE KNOW THEY ARE HEALTHY & HAPPY?

The reindeer are looked after with exceptional care by The Reindeer Centre, who have provided us with: a detailed risk assessment, their Performing Animal Welfare Licence & their Animal Welfare statement

If you visit us, you’ll find out that they are very calm, not at all distressed and happy to interact with people

HOW WE’RE MAKING VISITING THE REINDEER COVID SAFE

The reindeer will be in a designated area, with a one way system in and out. Groups/bubbles can then enter together, whilst keeping their distance from any other groups

Hand sanitiser will be provided at both the entrance and exit for all visitors to use
