Our real live reindeer will be back again this year on Sunday 1st of December, 10am to 4pm!
Entry is FREE & no need to book
The wonderful reindeer join us from the Reindeer Centre, experts in caring for reindeer.
They are English bred and farm reared, meaning they are tame and very happy to interact with people.
The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and more than happy to answer any of your questions. At Olivers, we love being able to teach younger generations about nature and indeed that reindeer are not just mythical creatures!
You’ll be able to get up close and interact with them, and learn all about reindeer.
Do I need to book?
No – there is no need to book and entry is FREE!
What time are they here?
The reindeer will be with us from 10am until 4pm on Sunday 1st of December only. Please note that due to Sunday trading laws, all customers must have left the premises by 4pm.
Is the Tea Room open?
Our Tea Room is also open from 10am to 4pm though we will not be taking bookings for that day. Come and grab a drink or meal while you’re here!
Why have their antlers been cut off?
Their antlers have not been cut off, but rather they naturally shed them and grow them back each year
Why do they sometimes bleed from their antlers?
Reindeer naturally shed the velvet (the fur) on their antlers – this velvet carries blood to the antlers, which means they can bleed whilst it is being shed, but this is completely normal!
Why are they skinny?
Reindeer are naturally skinny animals – even the healthiest reindeer can have ribs that are visible
How do we know they are healthy & happy?
The reindeer are looked after with exceptional care by The Reindeer Centre, who have provided us with: a detailed risk assessment, their Performing Animal Welfare Licence & their Animal Welfare statement
If you visit us, you’ll find out that they are very calm, not at all distressed and happy to interact with people
